Privacy Policy

Slacker Backer (“we,” “us”) operates slackerbacker.com, a service that watches crowdfunding campaign reward tiers and notifies you when a sold-out tier you are monitoring becomes available again. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We only collect information needed to run the service:

• Your email address, used for sign-in (magic link) and to deliver email notifications.
• Your phone number, only if you choose to enable SMS notifications. Your number is stored after you complete verification via a one-time code sent by our SMS provider.
• The crowdfunding campaigns and reward tiers you choose to monitor, plus your per-monitor notification preferences (email / SMS on or off, paused state).
• A notification email override if you set one, so we can route alerts to a different address than your sign-in email.
• Authentication cookies and session tokens issued by our authentication provider, so your browser can stay signed in.
• Operational logs: timestamps of polls, whether notifications were delivered, and error traces. We use these to debug and improve reliability.

We do not ask for, and do not collect, your credentials, payment information, or any data from your accounts on the crowdfunding platforms themselves. We only read publicly available reward-tier information from public campaign pages.

How we use your information

• To deliver the email and SMS notifications you requested.
• To authenticate you and protect your account from abuse.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
• To contact you about your account, service availability, or material changes to this policy.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
• We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
• We do not share your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number and the fact that you receive SMS from us are used only to deliver the transactional alerts you opted in to receive. The only third party that processes your mobile number on our behalf is our SMS provider (Twilio), and only for the purpose of sending you the messages you requested. They are contractually prohibited from using your number for their own purposes.
• We do not use your phone number for anything other than the transactional SMS alerts you opted in to receive.

Service providers

We use a limited set of reputable service providers to deliver core functions, including:

• Cloud hosting and compute infrastructure;
• Authentication and database storage;
• Transactional email delivery;
• SMS delivery and phone-number verification.

These providers process information on our behalf under contractual terms that restrict them to performing the services we request. They are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing or other independent purposes. If you have questions about a specific category, contact us and we’ll respond.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Notification delivery logs are retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting, then purged. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law.

Your choices

• Change or remove your phone number at any time from Notification Settings. You can also reply STOP to any SMS from us to unsubscribe immediately.
• Mute notifications per monitor from the dashboard, or pause a monitor entirely.
• Delete your account by emailing support@slackerbacker.com until self-service deletion ships.

Security

We use TLS for all data in transit, store credentials with the authentication provider rather than in our own database, and follow industry-standard practices. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a unique email and keep your inbox secure since magic-link emails grant access to your account.

Children

Slacker Backer is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

International users

Our service and its providers are primarily based in the United States. If you use the service from outside the US, your information will be processed in the US under this policy.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
