How SMS notifications work

Plain-English walkthrough of the Slacker Backer SMS alert program — the messages you’ll receive, the consent flow, and how to stop messages at any time.

What you’ll receive

Two kinds of messages: a one-time verification code when you add your number, and reward-reopened alerts after that.

Verification code (sent once when you add your phone)

Your Slacker Backer verification code is 482591. Don't share this code with anyone. Standard message and data rates may apply.

Reward reopened (the alerts you signed up for)

How you opt in (4 steps)

SMS is opt-in only. You won’t receive any text from us until you complete all four steps below. Each step is self-service from your account.

We use passwordless magic-link sign-in. Enter your email at slackerbacker.com/login, click the link we email you, and you’re in. No password to remember.

Tapping Send code triggers a Twilio Verify one-time-code SMS to the number you entered. No alert messages can be sent to that number until step 4 succeeds.

Confirm

The confirmation step. Once accepted, your phone is marked verified.

Verified

Once verified, the page shows your number with a green “Verified” chip. Each reward monitor on your dashboard gets a per-monitor SMS toggle so you can mute individual alerts without removing your number.

What you control after opt-in

Three layers of control, all self-service:

Per-monitor SMS toggle
Each reward you're watching has its own SMS chip on the dashboard card. Mute individual alerts without affecting others.
Reply STOP to any text
Instantly unsubscribes from all Slacker Backer SMS. Twilio handles the keyword automatically and our backend clears the verified state on your account.
Remove your phone number
Open Notification Settings, click "Remove" next to your verified number. Removes the number from our database entirely.

SMS program details

Program name: Slacker Backer SMS Alerts
Program type: Transactional alerts. Sent only when a reward tier you specifically subscribed to monitor transitions from sold-out to available.
Message frequency: Variable. Most users receive 0–3 messages per week depending on the campaigns they monitor. You may receive no messages for weeks at a time, or several in a single hour when a campaign nears its deadline and tiers reopen rapidly.
Cost: Slacker Backer does not charge to receive SMS during beta. Standard message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.
Opt out: Reply STOP to any message, or remove your number on the Notification Settings page.
Help: Reply HELP to any message for support information, or email support@slackerbacker.com.
Supported carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and most US MVNOs. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy: We do not share your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number is used only to send the transactional alerts you opted in to receive. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
