Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of slackerbacker.com (“Slacker Backer,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What Slacker Backer does

Slacker Backer lets you create monitors on specific reward tiers of crowdfunding campaigns. When a monitored tier that was sold out becomes available again — for example, because another backer dropped their pledge — we notify you via the channels you enabled (email and/or SMS).

We are not affiliated with any crowdfunding platform. We only read publicly available reward information from public campaign pages. We do not pledge on your behalf, manage your account on any crowdfunding platform, or guarantee that you will be able to claim a reopened slot.

Accounts

You must provide a working email address to sign in. You are responsible for keeping your email account secure since the magic-link sign-in flow delivers access to that address. Do not share your account with others. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service, attempt to evade rate limits, or harm the service or its users.

SMS Alert Program

Program name: Slacker Backer SMS Alerts.

Program description: Transactional SMS notifications sent when a crowdfunding campaign reward tier you are monitoring transitions from sold-out to available.

Opt-in: You opt in by adding a US phone number on the Notification Settings page and completing a one-time SMS verification code. Successful verification constitutes your consent to receive SMS alerts from Slacker Backer.

Message frequency: Varies based on the campaigns you monitor and how often their tiers reopen. A typical user receives between zero and a few messages per week. You can mute SMS per monitor or disable SMS entirely at any time.

Message and data rates may apply. Slacker Backer does not charge you for receiving SMS during the beta, but your mobile carrier’s standard rates apply to any SMS you receive.

Opt out: Reply STOP to any SMS message from Slacker Backer to unsubscribe from all further SMS. You may also remove your phone number from the Notification Settings page at any time.

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and most US MVNOs.

Privacy: We do not share your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number is used only to deliver the transactional SMS alerts you opted in to receive. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to send spam, to scrape crowdfunding platforms in ways that violate their terms, or to create an unreasonable number of monitors in an attempt to overload the system;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or gain unauthorized access to the service;
• Use the service to harass, defraud, or harm others, or to violate any applicable law.

Third-party services

The service relies on publicly accessible pages from crowdfunding platforms and on the infrastructure providers described in our Privacy Policy. We make no guarantees about their availability or behavior. If a crowdfunding platform changes its website in a way that prevents us from detecting reward availability, notifications may be delayed or missed until we update the service.

Service availability and changes

The service is provided on an as-available basis during beta. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice before material changes that affect paid users.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that notifications will always be timely, accurate, or delivered. Slacker Backer is a best-effort convenience tool, not a guarantee that you will be able to claim any particular reward.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Slacker Backer and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or opportunity (including the inability to claim a reward tier), arising from or related to your use of the service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $25 or the amount you paid to Slacker Backer in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
